Sara and Jimmy's
Bloody Mary Mix Recipe

  • 1 Gallon Tomato Juice

  • 3 tsp. Onion Juice

  • 4 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce

  • 4 tsp. Tabasco Sauce

  • Juice of one lemon

  • 4 Tbsp. Cider Vinegar

  • 6 tsp. Salt

  • 1 1/4 cups Sugar

(With all seasonings--Start with half or less and then add as the juice thickens. Tomatoes differ widely in sweetness and acid content.)

Sara and Jimmy made their tomato juice right from the garden. They squeezed out a blend of Rutgers and Roma tomatoes. That part of the mystery will never be known. But remember this secret--all tomatoes differ in acid and sweetness. You'll have to keep tasting the mixture while you're adding the flavorings. And if you like it spicy, just add more Tabasco.
Sara and Jimmy first heated their juice to a boil in a large stockpot to reduce the water content. Then they added the magic flavorings. After the last taste test, they canned the mixture in quart-sized mason jars--just right for a tailgate party!
