"SCRAPPY", the Appalachian Power Hammer in Australia
Hi. My name is Terence Raw. I'm a 61 year-old, invalid pensioner from Brisbane, Australia. After seeing your Rusty pictures and printing some out to work from, I thought I would have a go. So I made this power hammer from scrap steel and car parts. And the motor and pulley from a cement mixer. The hammer is two steel spring hangers blocks from a truck. They weigh in at 40lbs. The whole lot cost me $70 AUS. Most of that was for welding rods and two chunks of spring steel as I had the cement mixer for 15 years. The harder you press the foot pedal, the harder it hits. It took me approximately 1 week to build the power hammer. I call it "SCRAPPY".
Thanks for the idea.
